It has come to our attention here at rakgraphics.com,
that those using the AOL browser to view our pages may not be seeing many images in their best quality.
If you are using the AOL browser with its default settings, you may need to change certain settings.
This is not just a problem when viewing rakgraphics.com, but is a problem you will/may experience
when viewing others' pages as well; therefore if you want to get the most out of your web surfing
experience (here and elsewhere), we suggest:
a.) After signing into AOL, use Netscape Navigator or
MS Internet Explorer as your web browser.
OR b.) Continue using your AOL browser, but first follow the steps outlined below to reconfigure your AOL browser to correctly
handle images before viewing anymore pages.
AOL BROWSER
AOL recompresses all the
images it sends to you to save download time. However, our images are already
compressed, so no time is saved, and the image quality is noticeably degraded.
In fact, you may even get black bars across some of the JPEG images.
This is not how our images look -it only happens
on AOL.
To disable this "feature":
Step 1 Click on the "My AOL" menu at the top of your screen, then click
"Preferences".
Step 2
In the Preferences window, click the "WWW" icon.
Step 3
Select your preferences and click OK.
Step 4
Click on the "Web Graphics" tab.
Step 5
Uncheck the "Use compressed graphics" box.
Then click "Ok".
Step 6
Click on the "WWW" icon again.
In the "Temporary Internet files" area, click on "Delete Files"
button.
Click "Ok" in the "Delete Files" window.
Step 5
Click "Ok" in the "Internet Options" window.
Now you're ready to enjoy! You should notice
an improvement in picture quality right away, especially if your display
is set for more than 256 colors.
